Research Interests Dr. Luke is investigating the biochemical and biological role of serpins in the model system, C. elegans. A major focus is the role of one serpin gene in the hypoosmotic shock lethal (osl) phenotype. Additionally, the role of this serpin in cell death pathways is being investigated. Specific projects include investigating the interacting proteinase involved with this serpin using genetic and proteomic techniques, as well as other non-proteinase genes involved with this phenotype. These studies involve a wide range of proteomic, microarray, genetic, biochemical, and molecular biological techniques.
